From the likes of it it would seem I would be on the top of the list, if not the first to be called. I'm still not what to think of this since I think this would be an amazing opportunity for me. What do you think? The researcher who called me wouldn't go through all that trouble to just to tell me "sorry, you didn't get it" in that manner if I wasn't REALLY being considerd as the first alternate. This ambiguity is so frustrating!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8884460156378338058.post-47088709786628376972010-03-13T03:14:06.479-06:002010-03-13T03:14:06.479-06:00Hey nice blog! The best case solution gets a job/intern consideration! They ran a highly successful pilot program last spring and they are going for a launch this September. I found my current internship by just emailing a bunch of companies through their websites.

The one thing to mention, though, is that you won't get many responses. I got a response from 1/5 of the companies I emailed, which is much lower than what I've experienced using a university internship posting board (if your school has one, my undergrad did, my grad school does not.)Kevinhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10511063749864825443noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8884460156378338058.post-13638725583108821232009-05-17T11:47:00.000-05:002009-05-17T11:47:00.000-05:00Don't forget "very casual" as my current internshi...Don't forget "very casual" as my current internship described the dress code. Sure, some of them will be posted, but the vast majority of internships will be found through hidden employment avenues. To uncover internships that may be hiding, think about what you need to learn, and who you need to meet, to achieve your career goals. Jot down ideas of organizations and people who are good targets for your career goals. If you’re not sure which people and places would be a potential fit for you, talk to profs connected to your core career interests. They should have ideas. Also research companies and contacts on the Internet, by inputting keywords connected to your future professional focus, such as, “PR firms with sports clients, Los Angeles” (for more info on how to do this, check out this free article at http://www.careersolutionsgroup.net/job-searching-target_research.shtml ). Aim to come up with a list of at least 20 people and places, and contact them directly about setting up a summer internship. Don’t be nervous about appearing pushy. Your ability to take initiative is highly appealing to employers, and you’ll uncover outstanding opportunities for yourself through this approach.Unknownhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13865986397010846155noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8884460156378338058.post-26369166753960037642009-01-31T22:55:00.000-06:002009-01-31T22:55:00.000-06:00Students may avail of more scholarships, internshi...Students may avail of more scholarships, internships and other benefits in http://www.nuresume.com when they create their online resumes there. It allows other students to understand what it is really like to intern at a company and give them an idea of the work environment and daily tasks.

I created a website called internshipratings.com that allows for students to talk about their internships in a safe environment. The ratings can be anonymous and feature a set of 10 questions and space for comments.

Students need to talk about their experiences because there are so many great internships out there and they deserve to have the best experience!
-LaurenUnknownhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09989118816197974944noreply@blogger.com
